Accessibility Statement

We want Aether to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, switch devices, magnifiers, voice control, or who experience the web with sensory or cognitive differences.

Conformance target

Aether targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance and aligns with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)and Section 508 guidelines.

What this means in practice

  • Keyboard-first. Every interactive element is reachable and operable with a keyboard. A "Skip to main content" link appears on first Tab.
  • Visible focus. Focus rings are always visible for keyboard users (WCAG 2.4.7).
  • Semantic landmarks. Pages use header, main, nav, and footer with explicit ARIA labels.
  • Color contrast. Body text meets a 4.5:1 contrast ratio. Large text and UI controls meet 3:1.
  • Reduced motion. Animations are disabled when prefers-reduced-motion is set (WCAG 2.3.3).
  • High contrast. Color tokens shift to higher-contrast variants when prefers-contrast: more is set.
  • Text scaling. Body content uses relative units and remains readable at 200% zoom (WCAG 1.4.4).
  • Alt text. Decorative icons are marked aria-hidden. Meaningful icons have accessible names.
  • No motion-only signals. State changes (loading, error, success) use text, not just color or animation.

Designed for neurodivergent operators

We designed this dashboard with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and anxiety in mind. Concretely:

  • Plain language. No jargon-stuffed copy. Every label says what it does.
  • Predictable layout. Navigation, buttons, and panels stay in the same place across views.
  • Generous whitespace. Density is opt-in, not the default.
  • One primary action per view. The most important button is visually obvious and labeled clearly.
  • Reversible actions. Undo (⌘Z) is global. Destructive actions ask for confirmation.
  • No surprise interruptions. No pop-ups, no auto-playing media, no unsolicited modal dialogs.
  • Long-form text uses a max line length (~70 characters) to reduce eye-tracking load.
  • Time-independent. Nothing forces you to act within a deadline; sessions persist for 30 days.
  • Color is never the only signal. Stage colors are paired with labels. Errors include text and an icon.

Known limitations

The infinite production canvas is built on a graph library that is primarily mouse and touch oriented. Keyboard navigation of canvas nodes is being improved; in the meantime, the sidebar and search (⌘K) provide a fully keyboard-accessible way to find and edit any item.
